These are pics of our soon to be kitchen.. We need to replace the dishwasher.. and I REALLY want a flat-top stove and a new refrigerator with a freezer in the bottom, but that will come eventually. That's it for kitchen counter-space... only what this picture shows. One thing I would like to do is remove the cupboard above the oven and place a convection microwave or whatever they are called... the range thing. Anyway, that would give me a little bit of counter space. We're planning to buy an unfinished chef's island and place matching countertop (we are updating the existing counter) on it. We'll paint the island the same paint we'll update the cupboards with. Oh what fun all of this will be!!! :)

Would an island fit? And could the fridge go elsewhere to allow the counter and a cabinet to be extended?
Nope- fridge can't go anywhere else :( But we aren't getting a traditional size island, just a "chef's island" which is portable and a bit smaller.
